What About Global Warming?

Lot’s of people have opinions about global warming. Some think it is true while others dismiss it as nonsense.  A few months ago somebody told me when they were in college in the 70’s their college professors were warning about global cooling.

I am not going to make a case here either way.  The purpose of this site is to enrich people’s lives and provide material for dynamic Christian living.  However, I thought it would be helpful to make a point.

I would submit this question to anyone and everyone who has an opinion about global warming:  what do you base your position on?  Most people’s opinions about global warming are on what they have heard from others.  Accepting that information as true, they then become convinced or persuaded one way or the other.

But they should stop for a moment and consider that what they believe is what someone else said is true.  But how many people have actually researched out the topic utilizing all the data that is available?  Very, very few have.  And why do equally intelligent and respected scientists totally disagree?

So, what does this have to do with enriching your life, and dynamic Christian living?  I think that in many ways it is a distraction.  One position promotes fear and guilt.  I heard someone on the radio a few days ago say that there are those who have admitted that this whole issue is political, designed to grant the government more control.

Those who are not buying into global warming are upset that, what they call, “nonsense” is being promoted.  As a result they are angry and speaking out.  I heard someone recently say that our planet is actually in a cooling trend.

Now here’s my point.  If you get so wrapped up and involved and distracted into issues like this it really takes your focus off of trusting and believing God for the things that you need and desire for your life.  There always seems to be something looming around the corner and, with each new “threat,” there will always be opposing sides.  And with each new “threat” new fears are introduced.

On the other hand, if this is really something that you are vitally concerned about, then drop everything that you are doing, and invest the time and money to fully research it out,

If not, then put your trust in God, believing His promises, and expecting the results that He has promised and that He continues to bring to those who believe Him
