The New Year Is Less Than A Month Away!

A brand New Year is right around the corner.  Some people are already starting to think about their “New Year’s resolutions.”  Their desire for the upcoming New Year is that it will be better than the year that is ending.

It is certainly a good idea to have high expectations for the upcoming New Year.  In fact, while you’re at it, why not anticipate ‘09 to be the greatest year of your life thus far? Why not?   Would you object if that’s how it turned out?

But when you think about it, when New Years Day comes in a little over four weeks from now, it will simply be just another day.  It may very well be on the calendar as the start of another year, but it is also just the start of another day.

Here’s my point.  Why not expect and anticipate each day to be the greatest day of your life thus far, regardless of where each day comes up on the calendar?  Of course goals and plans for the coming year are good.  It is important to set the course and direction for your life.

But what about the remaining days left in this year?  Is it too late now for anything good to happen in the next four weeks?  Would you think that it is impossible this late in the year for this year to end up being the greatest year of your life so far?

No, it is not!

Regardless of where you are or what has happened in your life, this year is not over!  And despite all the news reports you may hear, God is not out of business!  He has not lost any of His power, ability or willingness!

I know there are those who just can’t wait for this year to be over and done with!   But remember, when ‘08 ends, it is simply the end of another day.  When ‘09 begins, it is simply the beginning of another day.

So, make plans and goals and set the direction for the New Year, but take each day one day at a time, expecting great things every day!
