When The Going Gets Tough….

You might think that you know the rest of the line of the title of this post.  But read what I have to say, and then you’ll see that the rest of the line is NOT, “the tough get going.”

I heard a great line the other day; it is an adaptation of a line that I have heard before.  I liked it so much that I am going to use it in my presentation to employees called, “Reducing Stress at Work.”

A lot of Christians understand the need to continue to grow spiritually.  They accept the need to develop themselves both by learning the Bible and applying it.  Most will agree that they have not arrived at their full potential; especially those who remember Jesus saying, “the works that I do shall he do also.”

I agree.  We should be growing, not only in knowledge, but in application.  What good is knowledge if we never use it?  And there are many areas in the walk of a Christian where we can grow and expand.

But the same is true in the secular field.  Why settle for where you are right now in terms of your skills and abilities?  Why not expand your knowledge, skills and abilities.  In other words make yourself more valuable than you are today?

Perhaps you are familiar with the line, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”  Recently, I heard it put another way.  “When the going gets tough, the tough sharpen their tools.”

Continue to grow and expand in every part of your life.  Be the best “you” that you can be.
