Fear Does Not Help

I mentioned a couple of days ago about an article that I was writing.  I posted that article just a few minutes ago.  Like all the articles and blogs on this site are accessible to members and non-members.

There is a lot of fear in the workplace these days.  This article offers some very practical advice.  Feel free to send the link for this article to someone you know.  Just copy paste this url – http://www.enrichingyourlifenow.com/are-you-afraid-of-getting-fired

There are people today who are expecting to get fired and therefore are taking no pride in their work, since, “They’re probably going to fire me anyway, so what’s the use of doing a good job?”  There are three things terribly wrong with an attitude like that.

First, they haven’t been fired; they still have a job.  And, unless they have been told that they will indeed get fired, there is no guarantee that it will happen.

Secondly, they are breaking their agreement.  They were hired to do a job and perform it to the best of their ability.  They agreed to do a job for a certain amount of compensation.

Thirdly, they are losing their own pride!  Because of all the facts, they have become discouraged and have lost their own self worth.

Regardless of what is going on around you, your knowledge and insight, your skills and abilities, your work ethic and attitude; all of that is who you are.  And if you did get laid off, they cannot take that away from you, because that is who you are.

However, if, because of the conditions and circumstances, you allow your good qualities to erode into a “not caring attitude,” then you have no one to blame for that but yourself.  And always remember, that if you do get laid off, what you take with you to the next job is who you are.

See yourself as more than just another employee.  Do whatever it takes to be the very best employee; not out of fear of losing your job, but out of pride in yourself.

Regardless of whether you stay or get laid off, you are who you are, and no one can take that away from you.  Who you are is what you have to offer.

Choose to have a great day!

Mike
