The Last Supper – Part 1
The meal that Jesus Christ shared with his disciples the night he was arrested, has been called, “The Last Supper.” He shared many things with them that last night together, including, healing, forgiveness, love, service, the hope, manifesting the spirit, their personal relationship with the Father, and the necessity of prayer.
It was one final night of teaching and he taught them all the way to the end, even when they had him in custody.
One of the things he did during the meal was he washed all of their feet. In the Bible lands, the lowest servant was the one to wash the feet of guests that came to the house. And on occasion if a person of very high rank, dignitary, someone very important, then it was the master of the house who would perform this lowly job.
To the guest, if the master washed his feet, it was paying him a very high compliment
Jesus was treating these lowly men like royalty. They all knew their own social status; they knew they didn’t deserve such treatment. That’s why Peter objected.
He was teaching them humility, love and service, and told them, by this shall all men know you are my disciples, by the love you have one for another.
More on the “Last Supper” next time.
Choose to have a great day!
