Do You Trust Him?

Yesterday, at the Glendale Fellowship, i was teaching on trusting God rather than accepting the “news of the day.” 

In recent months it seems every day we continue to hear “bad news” about gas prices, the housing market, the stock market, etc.,etc.

While these are very real issues, I cannot control any of them.  Can you?  But, I can control what I think about that information.  I can control my own thinking. If you listen to some people the world is about to end!  I choose to not accept that.

Have you noticed that for each and every problem that we hear about, it seems that everyone you talk to has a solution?  But do any of them have the authority and responsibility to implement “their solution?” 

So, what profit is it to continue to discuss and argue about what should be done and what shouldn’t be done?  All it does is to serve as a constant reminder that “they” are not doing what they should be doing and so, as a result, you are still stuck!

Take note of how you feel after one of those “problem solving” discussions.  Does it build confidence and trust in God to take care of you and provide as He has promised?  Those kinds of discussions simply breed more fear, stress and worry. The truth is that God has promised to supply our needs in abundance! 

I also mentioned yesterday that in all the places in the Bible where God has promised to take care of us and supply whatever we need, at no place is there a disclaimer that says, “except when times are not good!”  In fact there are a number of records in the Bible where God provided abundantly for those who trusted Him during extremely critical times!

Don’t you think discussions about trusting God, looking for and expecting His help would be much more profitable than all the “they should do this” discussions?

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.  If you are afraid and worried about how bad things are, then how can you at the same time have trust and confidence that God will take care of you, regardless of what’s going on?

Continue to build into your heart and mind a trust and confidence in God to supply all that you need.  Pray and ask for His help.  Pray for others. And, pray for our country.
