They Are Not Stressing!

Saturday I was emceeing an event and there were lots of kids there.  It was a grand opening for a new shopping area. They had fund things including hayrides and pony rides. And of course, they had Santa there for the children too.  And, if you have Santa, well you need some snow, right.  But this is Arizona!

In some parts of our country that just got blasted the past few days with snow, they would probably laugh to hear that here in Arizona we have machines to make snow!  And that’s what they did on Saturday; they made ten tons of it and the kids had a great time playing in it, falling in it, and throwing snowballs at each other.

In between the drawings for prizes, I watched everyone.  On a number of adults I could see a lot of stress.  Perhaps it was the economy.  Maybe it was stress of the season with all that there is to do and get ready for.  Maybe it was something else.

But when I looked at the kids there was no stress.  Even when I didn’t call out their ticket number, they were a little disappointed for 2 seconds, but then off they went for a hayride, or a snowball fight, or a pony ride.

Yes, it is true, many our children are not fully aware of the situations going on.  Some of them are too young to understand what is going on.  Heck, many adults don’t understand what’s going on either!

Most of the time, children just have a trust and confidence that everything is going to be okay.  Have you noticed, most of the time they just live from day to day?  They are not concerned about food for next week.  They just want to eat today and have some more fun with their friends.  They just trust that everything will be okay.  And that’s why they don’t stress.

As I saw those children on Saturday, I thought of how we as adults could learn something.  If we really believe that we are God’s children, then He really is our Father.  We can trust Him and have confidence in Him that everything is going to be okay.

Now I’m not saying that we all just spend the day having a big snowball fight and riding ponies, and then come home for supper.  The point is, we can trust Him to help us, to direct us, and to guide us so that everything will be okay and so that we can live our lives without all the stress.
