Keep Pursuing Your Dreams

If you’re a golf fan you may remember when Fred Couples won the PGA Masters golf tournament.  For Fred it was a dream come true.  It was something that he had wanted and had visualized for some time.  In college he actually rehearsed it.  I mean he acted it out with a college friend of his.

I recently posted a really wonderful video called, “Walk On.”  If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out.  One of the sports announcers in that video is Jim Nantz.

While in college in the late 70’s, at the University of Houston, Jim and a college friend of his used to act out a scene. They actually rehearsed his friend being escorted into the Butler Cabin where the winner of the PGA Masters Golf Tournament is awarded the coveted green jacket and is then interviewed by a CBS sports announcer.  The two of them play acted that scene together, with his friend playing the part of the golfer..

It was some 14 years later that Jim’s friend, Fred Couples, won the PGA Masters Tournament.  There he was being escorted into the Butler Cabin where he was awarded his green jacket.  And then, just as they had acted out, Fred was interviewed by CBS sports announcer, Jim Nantz.

After the broadcast, the two men, with tears in their eyes, hugged each other.  They had known for a long time that Fred was going to win the Masters, and that Jim would do the interview.

Now before you dismiss this as something very silly and childish, think about Fred Couples and Jim Nantz.  Perhaps if other people knew what Fred and Jim were doing back in college they would have laughed at them, or at least thought it was pretty silly.  But, I’m quite confident that neither Fred nor Jim thinks what they did was silly, do you?

Here’s my point: never, ever give up on your dreams.  Some people give themselves a pep talk in the mirror; some write things out in great detail; others look at pictures and do things to keep their focus on where they want to go.  And, some people even act it out.

Whatever you need to do to keep your dreams alive, do it.  And as you pray about it, remember that God promised that He would give you the desires of your heart.

Choose to have a great day!

Mike
