I Heard The Facts

I was invited to a business lunch yesterday with two managers. The topic of contracts came up, and they were telling me how the company at this moment is not renewing any contracts. They are waiting to find out their numbers for the first quarter of ‘09. They are basically now on a “day to day” operation.

As we sat there, I heard a fair amount of unpleasant news as I enjoyed a very good, and very overpriced, burger. All the information that I was hearing may very well have been true. However, the projections of what might happen in the future, well that was speculation.

Here’s my bottom line: Those were facts. I wrote last month about “the facts.”

Numbers and odds are not the issue; they are not the deciding factor. Have you ever read about what Gideon did with 300 men against an army of over 100,000?

We can know what the facts are, and we can face those facts with confidence in God. We can look at the numbers, good or bad, and still trust in God.

You can get the facts, look at the facts, understand the facts, but, then choose to trust God because God is always bigger than any situation, regardless of any of the facts!

But if we look at the facts and see our situation as just too big and are convinced that there is no solution, how can we possibly trust God to provide a solution for us?

Recognize that it is not the facts that are stopping you; it is your negative reaction to the facts! That will always stop you!

I enjoyed lunch. The two managers seemed to enjoy lunch too, although they seemed to be carrying a lot of stress as we walked out of the restaurant. I don’t know how much of what I had to share they heard. But, if the facts are bigger than God, we are all in really big trouble!!
